Jumping the Gap

I jump the gap
and fire flowers,
today tomorrow
never comes,
a tree a tuning fork,
a raucous heart.

There’s yet a girl
beating a drum,
a tiger leaping
through the dark,
a babe abandoned
in an eagle’s nest.

My song goes on,
a dying ember.
A raven’s wing
covers all.

A whirl of wind
sweeps us all along.
