In the wild
you hear the sighing
in the trees,
the thump of mountains,
the river’s claw.
It begins to rain.
You fall
through the night,
the deepest sleep,
so near to death.
In the morning,
there comes the call of birds
to fly with them.
It matters not
you have no wings.
